Interview with Megan Kerr
All about Megan G. Kerr
By: Liv
Liv: What's your favorite color?
Megan: Purple.
Liv: Why did you start teaching gifted?
Megan: I enjoyed doing the activities when I was in the gifted program myself elementary school. I also liked coming up with enrichment ideas for my students when I taught second grade. And I had a lot of fun substituting teaching in gifted classrooms. So when Mrs. Leftwich asked me if I wanted to teach gifted kids with her, I was excited at the possibility. It seemed like my dream job. I had to take college courses anyway to renew my teaching license. So I decided to interview for the gifted job and commit to taking college classes in gifted education to get certified. And the rest is history.
Liv: What would your perfect Saturday look like?
Megan: Oh boy. Sleeping in. Walking over to Meadowbrook to get coffee and breakfast. Going to a fall festival with my family. Going to a museum or seeing something new. Lunch outside on a patio where I can sit in the sun and people watch. Dinner, too. Hanging out with friends and playing games in the evening.
Liv: If you could travel back in time and change one thing, what would you fix?
Megan: That is a big one. I generally think everything happens for a reason and things that seem like mistakes at the time maybe aren't really mistakes but a lesson we needed to learn. So I don't know if I would "fix" anything, but I'd like to go back in time and tell my younger self not to worry so much. I'd tell myself that things will turn out fine and I should relax and enjoy myself more. You are only young once. I'd tell myself to color in my coloring books instead of saving them.
Liv: If you had 10 million dollars, and you could only spend it on one thing what would you buy
Megan: I wouldn't buy a "thing." I'd spend it on a family trip around the world. I want them to experience new places and cultures and see all the famous sites. And if I kept nothing from the money but pictures and memories, I'd be very happy. :)
She sounds lovely.
ReplyDeleteWe have got to do a family cruise together some time. It is the best for relaxing and exploring new things if you are interested. So much better than flying!
ReplyDeleteCruise around the world? Done! Although, I am a huge fan of flying. There is just something special about seeing the world from above. It really puts my little life into perspective when I can see whole cities at once. -Megan
